WELCOME Frequently Asked Questions
How did WELCOME Come to Be?
WELCOME began as Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) in 1969, and since then it has touched more than 1,400 parishes in 100 dioceses and 40 states. In 2015, Matthew Kelly’s Dynamic Catholic acquired CRHP and has worked to revamp it into the new WELCOME experience. Dynamic Catholic has asked several parishes in the United States to participate in a pilot program before they roll out their final version of their new CRHP program. Saint Jude the Apostle Catholic Church has been asked to participate in this pilot program beginning with our Spring 2018 weekends.
How Many Saint Jude Parishioners have experienced WELCOME?
WELCOME is new, but since 2011, more than 800 Saint Jude men and women have attended the CRHP renewal weekend.
What happens on the WELCOME Weekend?
The WELCOME experience includes, prayer, inspirational talks, faith sharing, group discussion, scripture, song, and lots of fellowship! You also receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, celebrate Mass and spend time in personal reflection in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.
Most importantly, during the weekend, you will experience the presence of Christ and witness the Holy Spirit working through your fellow participants. You will be amazed, inspired and energized.
When and where do the WELCOME Retreats take place?
There are separate men’s and women’s retreats held each spring and fall. The retreat is held on the Saint Jude the Apostle Catholic Church Parish campus in the Ministry Building. The weekend begins Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. and finishes Sunday at 3:00 p.m. Participants stay overnight at the parish, and all meals are included.
Who can attend a WELCOME retreat?
WELCOME is open to all adults 21 and older of any faith background. Should we reach our maximum attendance for any retreat, preference will be given to Saint Jude the Apostle parishioners.
Is there a cost to attend?
A $50 donation is requested to cover the cost of food and materials. It is not required. The spirit of WELCOME is to make the experience available for everyone.
