Our 2018 Woman of the Year is Mary Twiner. Mary has been a member of Saint Jude for over 40 years, having grown up in the parish. Both Mary and her husband, Mike, attended Saint Jude the Apostle Catholic School. They have four children – Ben, Nick, Joe, and Quinn. Mary has served the parish in numerous ways over the years with involvement in Saint Theresa’s Circle, Lay Eucharistic Minister, Core Leader for Youth Group, Confirmation preparation, Eucharistic Adoration Coordinator, Ave Maria Shop volunteer, Women of Saint Jude Board member, and most recently being a key person in the establishment of the new Mary Martha Circle. She has also grown her faith by participating in weekly Bible studies and CRHP. We congratulate Mary on this well-deserved award! We are blessed that the Twiner family call Saint Jude home.
Our 2018 Youth of the Year is Michael Masak. Michael is the son of Joe and Kim Masak and has a younger brother Mitchell. His service to our parish began in 4th grade as an Altar Server. Michael is currently a master server and participates in our Life Teen Mass as a lector, usher and Eucharistic minister. He also serves as a Life Teen leader and helps plan and lead life nights and retreats. Michael is also a member of our Boy Scout Troop 623 and anticipates receiving his Eagle Scout ranking in May. Michael attends St. Pius X High School where he is a Lion Leader, President of Students for Life, Student Ambassador, altar server, member of the marching band, and co-president of the 3D printer club (where he helped print and build prosthetic hands for 3rd world countries). Michael plans to attend either the University of Georgia or Georgia Southern to study graphic design. He is also open to a vocation to the priesthood and will attend a “Come and See” retreat this month. We are so grateful Michael chooses to use his time and gifts to serve those in our parish, community and his school. We wish him all the best after graduation, and know he will make an impact wherever he goes.
