Natural Family Planning (NFP) Awareness Week
Sunday, July 24 – Saturday, July 30, 2021
Called to the Joy of Love
Marriage, Children, and Family Go Together!
Natural Family Planning (NFP) Awareness Week is a national educational campaign of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) on the Catholic teaching on married love and the gift of human life. NFP is the general title for the scientific, natural, and moral methods of family planning that can help married couples either achieve or postpone pregnancies.
The annual campaign, which began in 2002, promotes awareness of NFP methods. The dates of this week highlight the anniversary of the papal encyclical Humanae Vitae (July 25) which articulates Catholic beliefs about human sexuality, conjugal love, and responsible parenthood. The dates also mark the feast of Saints Joachim and Anne (July 26), the parents of the Blessed Mother. This year, Pope Francis has also designated World Day of Prayer for Grandparents and the Elderly to be held during NFP Awareness Week.
