Sunday, October 12
Mass - 7p.m.
Blessing of New Adoration Chapel will Immediately Follow
Our Lady of Aparecida, which means “Our Lady Who Appeared”, is the Patron Saint of Brazil. In 1717, a group of fisherman were having little success in catching any fish needed for a feast to honor the then governor, who was passing through town. After many hours, the fishermen were depressed and cast their net one last time. Instead of fish, a headless black statue of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception was in the net. The fishermen took the statue out, cleaned it and wrapped it in cloth. After that, their nets became full of fish. This is considered the first miracle of Our Lady of Aparecida. She was proclaimed the Patron Saint of Brazil in 1930. The beloved Mother Aparecida accepted in her heart all Brazilian families, adults, children, sick, those who live in solitude, and also us living in foreign lands. She does not cease to show us God and to give birth to His only Son.
The Brazilian communities at St. Jude and Holy Family invite you to a special Mass to celebrate her feast day on Sunday, October 12 at 7:00p.m.
Fr. João Gualberto will be celebrating and would love to have you with him. Immediately after Mass, there will be a procession to our new Adoration Chapel at which time it will be blessed. We will be establishing a perpetual adoration committee later this year and will begin to increase the adoration hours in our new chapel in 2015. We hope you can join us on this special feast day in honor of Our Lady of Aparecida!
