A message from our pastor, Monsignor Joe Corbett
On Friday, May 15, 2020, the Archbishop of Atlanta, Most Reverend Gregory John Hartmayer, OFM Conv, announced the 2020 priest assignment changes for parishes in the archdiocese. Father Roberto Suarez, Chaplain to the Brazilian Community at Saint Jude the Apostle – and previously Parochial Vicar to the Hispanic and Anglo communities – has accepted a new assignment in the archdiocese. Effective July 1, 2020, his new assignment will be Parochial Vicar at Saint Lawrence Church in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Father Vanderley Oliveira will be assigned to serve our Brazilian community. He is a priest of the diocese of Barra do Pirai-Volta Redonda in Brazil. He visited our community earlier this year. Presently, he is serving in a parish in Brazil while waiting for his visa. When it is granted he can take up his new assignment here in Atlanta.
At this time it is not possible to say when we will be able to host a public gathering to thank Father Roberto for his service to the Hispanic, Brazilian, and Anglo communities of our parish.
Finally, for several months now, the whole world has been dealing with life under lockdown. All of our lives have been disrupted by this pandemic. We cannot see it, we do not fully understand it, yet it has brought the whole world to a standstill. Please know that during this time you have been in my prayers at daily Mass. And I hope that you have been able to watch our Masses online every week via our parish website.
If your parish can be of assistance to you in any way please do not hesitate to call or email us here at the church office.
