First Saturday Devotion

On December 10, 1925, Our Lady of Fatima appeared to Sister Lucia in a convent at Pontevedra, Spain to instruct Lucia on the offering of a Communion of Reparation for sins committed against her Immaculate Heart. This devotion is now known as the First Saturday Devotion which is offered here at Saint Jude in the church following the 8:30 am first Saturday morning Mass. This devotion consists of attending Mass, receiving Holy Communion, going to Confession, praying the rosary, and meditating on the mysteries of the rosary for at least 15 minutes on each first Saturday for five consecutive months with the intention of making reparation for blasphemies committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary. All these requirements can be fulfilled right here at our parish following the first Saturday morning Mass. Our Lady promised to assist all who practice this devotion with all the graces necessary for salvation at the hour of their death. This devotion is not guaranteed admission into heaven as our cooperation with grace is always required.
