Message from the Red Cross:
We are in need of all blood types but a special push is being done for O-, O+, A- and B- donors to do Power Red donations.  Power Red is similar to a whole blood donation, except a special machine is used to allow you to safely donate two units of red blood cells during one donation while returning your plasma and platelets to you.  To do a Power Red donation, please use the “Register Here” link above and choose “Power Red” when choosing your time.  Learn more about a Power Red.  donation.

More from the Red Cross:
Blood products are perishable, and the only source of lifesaving blood for patients is volunteer blood donors. Disruptions to donations – from holiday travel to widespread seasonal illness – can lead to shortages and cause delays in essential medical care.  During the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s, about 500 fewer blood drives were hosted by volunteer sponsor groups than required to meet patient needs.  About 80% of blood donations are made at blood drives organized by volunteer sponsor groups and coordinators.  Many of these groups postpone blood drives during the winter holidays when donors’ busy schedules may interfere with donation plans, which limits the availability of blood drives for people to attend and directly contributes to blood shortages. This is why we need you and we appreciate you!
