Laying of the Wreaths

Wreaths Across America is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to remember the men and women who served our country and honor our military and their families.  Each December, they sponsor a National Wreaths Across America Day and coordinate wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery and  2,500 additional locations in all 50 states, at sea, and abroad.

St. Jude the Apostle Assembly 3856 serves as a Wreaths Across America sponsor organization and is celebrating its fourth year of participation in this nationwide program honoring veterans. In past years, the emphasis was to maximize the number of wreaths placed at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton and at the Johns Creek Veterans Memorial. This year, with the “Do Good Twice” option, we continue to emphasize the placement of wreaths but have added the ability to raise funds from a $5 cash back program to use in helping veterans in need working through local veteran service organizations.

Our Knights of Columbus Assembly is planning to fund 1,800 wreaths to be placed at veterans’ headstones at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. Each wreath is $17. For every two wreaths we purchase, WAA provides an additional wreath so our contributions go 50% further. The Assembly is also looking for volunteers to help lay the wreaths on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 12:00 pm. Donate or sign up to volunteer here.
