Pope Francis has instituted a Church-wide celebration called World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly. It will be held on the fourth Sunday of July, close to the liturgical memorial of Saints Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of Jesus. The day is to remind us in Pope Francis’ words that “old age is a gift and that grandparents are the link between the different generations and are able to pass on to the young the experience of life.”
We will have a special blessing at all Masses for grandparents on Sunday, July 25. We invite you to come to Mass with your grandchildren on that day. Learn more about this celebration here.
